As an artist I think it’s my job to show the world how I want to be seen through my art, I make art to say what I can’t with words. Whether that’s explaining how I wish I could present as nothing in my first painting Perception > Reality or standing up to the blatant bigotry and hate being spewed by the Terf movement like in Windgardium Transphobia.
It’s an artist’s job to take on the ugly parts of the world and turn them into something brighter and more creative. I think that’s why so many of my paintings feature glitter, that, and the fact that for the longest time that was the only watercolor pallet I had! Really 2020 has been such a dark and negative year, humanity needs some (read A LOT) of glitter!
Como artista, creo que mi trabajo es mostrar al mundo cómo quiero que me vean a través de mi arte, hago arte para decir lo que no puedo con palabras. Ya sea para explicar cómo me gustaría poder presentarme como nada en mi primer cuadro Percepción> Realidad, o hacer frente a la intolerancia y el odio flagrantes que arroja el movimiento Terf como en Windgardium Transphobia.
Es el trabajo de un artista enfrentarse a las partes más feas del mundo y convertirlas en algo brillante y creativo. Creo que es por eso que muchas de mis pinturas tienen brillo, eso, y el hecho de que durante mucho tiempo esa fue la única paleta de acuarela que tuve. Realmente 2020 ha sido un año tan oscuro y negativo, ¡la humanidad necesita un poco (lea MUCHO) de brillo!
